Investigation Consulting:

ESI International, Inc. provides investigation consulting to professional companies (usually law or accounting firms) that have the need for an in-house investigative staff. Our vast experience in civil and criminal investigations, and our many investigative resources, are shared with our clients, thereby allowing the professional firms to create profitable in-house investigative service centers.

ESI International has found that many of the day-to-day investigative tasks facing legal and accounting firms can be resolved easily by in-house staff. However, many of these tasks are often not resolved economically, or profitably, because of a deficiency in training or mentoring.

Tasks such as routine location of witnesses might not be successfully accomplished because of the lack of a good resource to use, or the improper use of a good resource. ESI International has used hundreds of investigation information sources, and continually updates and selects the best for use in its own investigations. Using these resources on a daily basis, ESI International has learned the strengths of each, and the manner of use that brings the best and most profitable results.

Even given the proper resource, routine investigations can fail and/or cost too much if the method used to search the database is faulty, or the proper follow-up is not used to make certain that all of the needed information is obtained. For example, a paralegal might try to locate a witness using a free web search. He or she may succeed in locating an address for a person with the same name as the witness, along with a disconnected telephone number. Thereafter, without confirmation, this information is turned over to the lawyer who requested the investigation. Ultimately, efforts by the lawyer to contact the witness fail, largely because the paralegal wasn’t aware that the data on the Internet search was two years old, and was actually for a person with the same name, but who was not identical to the witness being sought.

A similar, more expensive effort, using a well-known database subscribed to by the law firm, could result in several persons with the same name being located, but again with no working telephone numbers. This time the paralegal spent a substantial amount of money, but has a similar result – no witness.

ESI International can show your staff how to locate and identify witnesses, how to obtain working telephone numbers (even if they are non-published), and how to keep the billing and profit within your firm. From single locates to evidence retrieval and interviews, ESI International provides the resources, training, and ongoing support that in-house investigative teams need to run efficiently and profitably.

ESI International, Inc.’s Investigation Consulting is offered on a retainer basis. Pricing and packages are tailored to each firm’s needs.
